German lawmakers have approved a temporary cut to fuel taxes on gasoline and diesel, aiming to lower prices for citizens. The tax reduction, set to begin on October 1 and last until the start of the new year, will see taxes decrease by approximately €0.17 per liter. This measure is expected to cost the federal and state governments €2.5 billion in lost tax revenue. It marks the second such tax cut implemented by Germany this year in response to rising fuel costs.
