Nayar recounted that a 17-year-old Rohit once arrived for his Mumbai Ranji Trophy debut without his kitbag. When questioned by the coach, Sharma fabricated a story about his bag falling off a train. Sharma, who is known for his forgetful nature, denied playing smart, claiming he simply stated what happened.
