Indian stock markets experienced a significant downturn, with the Sensex falling 1,124 points to close at 72,771, a six-month low. The Nifty also dropped 360 points to 22,780. This decline was driven by a combination of factors, including escalating tensions in the Persian Gulf region, rising crude oil prices, and concerns over a weak monsoon impacting inflation. Foreign portfolio investors were major sellers, offloading Rs 5,353 crore worth of stocks, leading to a loss of approximately Rs 7.5 lakh crore in investor wealth.

भारतीय शेयर बाजारों में भारी गिरावट आई, सेंसेक्स 1,124 अंक गिरकर 72,771 पर बंद हुआ, जो छह महीने का निचला स्तर है। निफ्टी भी 360 अंक गिरकर 22,780 पर आ गया। यह गिरावट फारस की खाड़ी क्षेत्र में बढ़ते तनाव, कच्चे तेल की बढ़ती कीमतों और कमजोर मानसून के कारण महंगाई बढ़ने की चिंताओं सहित कई कारकों से प्रेरित थी। विदेशी पोर्टफोलियो निवेशकों ने 5,353 करोड़ रुपये के शेयर बेचकर भारी बिकवाली की, जिससे निवेशकों की संपत्ति में लगभग 7.5 लाख करोड़ रुपये का नुकसान हुआ।
