MP High Court Rejects 27% OBC Reservation, Orders 14% Cap

The Madhya Pradesh High Court has ruled against granting 27% reservation for Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in state recruitment, limiting it to 14%. A division bench dismissed petitions seeking the higher quota, stating no exceptional circumstances justified exceeding the 50% reservation cap. Recruited under the 27% quota between September 2019 and September 2022 have been put on hold, with 13% of posts to be filled from the unreserved category within three months. Political parties and OBC organizations have expressed disappointment and vowed to challenge the verdict in the Supreme Court.

मध्य प्रदेश हाई कोर्ट ने राज्य की भर्तियों में अन्य पिछड़ा वर्ग (OBC) के लिए 27% आरक्षण देने के ख़िलाफ़ फैसला सुनाया है, इसे 14% तक सीमित कर दिया है। एक डिवीज़न बेंच ने उच्च कोटा की मांग करने वाली याचिकाओं को खारिज कर दिया, यह कहते हुए कि 50% आरक्षण की सीमा से अधिक को उचित ठहराने के लिए कोई असाधारण परिस्थितियाँ नहीं थीं। सितंबर 2019 और सितंबर 2022 के बीच 27% कोटे के तहत भर्ती किए गए लोगों की प्रक्रिया रोक दी गई है, और तीन महीने के भीतर अनारक्षित श्रेणी से 13% पदों को भरा जाएगा।
