US-based Reflect Orbital plans to beam sunlight to Earth at night using large mirrors on satellites. They have partnered with India's Skyroot Aerospace for two rocket launches, the first using the Vikram-1 rocket and the second a new Vikram-1U variant. This technology aims to provide light to specific areas for disaster relief, extended industrial work hours, and increased solar power generation. The company received approval for a test satellite in July and intends to illuminate areas approximately five kilometers wide, with adjustable brightness.
