Times of India · india
Indian Railways has issued a stern warning against using mobile phones on speaker mode on trains, with violators facing a Rs 1,000 fine and potential removal from the train. Continued nuisance could lead to a fine of up to Rs 5,000 or six months' imprisonment. Southern Railway divisions are tasked with raising passenger awareness through announcements and notices. This move, previously attempted in 2012 with limited success, has now been codified as a punishable offense under the Jan Vishwas Act.
