In Arizona's Cienega Creek watershed, conservationists successfully tackled the threat of invasive American bullfrogs to the native Chiricahua leopard frog. The project, which began in 2013, involved removing bullfrogs, preventing their return, and improving habitats. By 2019, the area dedicated to leopard frog reintroduction expanded from seven sites covering 42 square kilometers to 19 sites across 84 square kilometers. This expansion was crucial for the recovery of the threatened leopard frog population.
