France24 World · world

Representative Haley Stevens, a high-profile Democrat, has unexpectedly endorsed Republican Mike Rogers in Michigan's critical Senate race. This move comes as she chose not to support the Democratic candidate, Abdul Al-Sayed, who had previously defeated her in the primary. The defection highlights internal party divisions at a crucial time when control of Congress is at stake in the US midterm elections. This development could potentially influence the outcome of the closely watched race.
