Finance Minister Sitharaman to Hear Views on LTCG and STT

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman stated on Tuesday that she will keenly listen to all viewpoints concerning the long-term capital gains (LTCG) tax and securities transaction tax (STT). Her indication alone caused the stock market to rise by 1%. Sitharaman also confirmed the Reserve Bank of India's ongoing efforts to curb volatility in the rupee exchange rate, aiming for stability rather than a fixed value. She noted global capital flows towards the US, particularly for AI development, but highlighted India's own AI advancements as attractive to investors.

केंद्रीय वित्त मंत्री निर्मला सीतारमण ने मंगलवार को कहा कि वे लंबी अवधि के पूंजीगत लाभ (LTCG) कर और प्रतिभूति लेनदेन कर (STT) से जुड़े सभी विचारों को ध्यान से सुनेंगी। उनके इस संकेत मात्र से शेयर बाजार में 1% की तेजी आई। सीतारमण ने यह भी पुष्टि की कि भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक (RBI) रुपये के विनिमय दर में अस्थिरता को कम करने के लिए लगातार प्रयास कर रहा है, जिसका लक्ष्य एक निश्चित मूल्य के बजाय स्थिरता लाना है। उन्होंने अमेरिका की ओर वैश्विक पूंजी प्रवाह पर ध्यान दिया, खासकर AI विकास के लिए, लेकिन भारत की अपनी AI प्रगति को भी निवेशकों के लिए आकर्षक बताया।
