Tiny Demodex Mites Live On Human Skin, Mostly Harmless
Aaj Tak · science
Tiny microscopic creatures called Demodex Mites reside on most adult human skin, primarily in hair follicles and around eyelashes. These mites, measuring 0.15 to 0.4 millimeters, feed on oils and debris and are most active at night for reproduction. While generally harmless and often unnoticed, a significant overpopulation can lead to skin issues like redness, itching, and rashes, a condition known as Demodicosis. Maintaining facial hygiene and consulting a doctor for persistent symptoms are recommended.
