Bangladesh Seeks New Relationship With India

Bangladesh's State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Humaiun Kobir, stated the country desires to reset its relationship with India and build new bilateral engagement based on mutual interests. He described ties during the tenure of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina as "uncomfortable." Kobir emphasized the need to move beyond an "excessive preoccupation" with India, treating it as one country among many. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is scheduled to attend the UN General Assembly in New York.
