Indian Rupee Falls Below 95 Against Dollar Amid High Oil Prices
Economic Times Markets · stocks
The Indian rupee depreciated to 95.18 against the US dollar on Monday, crossing the psychologically important 95 mark. This decline was primarily driven by elevated global oil prices, with Brent futures trading around $115 per barrel. Importer demand for dollars persisted despite increased hedging costs, and the Reserve Bank of India's reduced intervention has left the rupee more vulnerable. The currency is expected to remain under pressure as long as crude prices stay high and importer demand continues.
