Times of India · politics
India has strongly rejected US Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal's remarks regarding the country's electoral process, deeming them "unwarranted and uninformed." Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that such comments amount to interfering in the electoral practices of a fellow democracy and undermine democratic principles. Jayapal had expressed concern over reports of 130 million people being removed from India's voting rolls. India's Ambassador to the US also dismissed the allegations as unacceptable interference, emphasizing India's robust democratic institutions and fair election record.
