Union minister HD Kumaraswamy has accused Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar of being lenient with a suspect in an alleged sting operation targeting former CM Siddaramaiah. Kumaraswamy claims the police summoned the individual merely as a formality and warned of street protests if the government aids the suspect in obtaining anticipatory bail. He defended his support for Siddaramaiah, citing his political stature and importance to Congress's electoral success. Kumaraswamy also questioned the integrity of the investigation, citing alleged links of the investigating officer to a past Ponzi scheme case.
