IIT Researchers Develop New Device For AI And Smart Computing

Researchers from IIT Guwahati and IIT Kharagpur have created an ultrathin, light-sensitive electronic device that mimics the human brain's ability to recognise and learn from visual information. This integrated platform combines light sensing, memory, and processing, using significantly less energy than conventional systems. Laboratory tests showed the device consumed 500 times less energy and achieved 90 per cent accuracy in facial recognition and 85 per cent in traffic scene segmentation. This innovation holds promise for more efficient artificial intelligence and robotic vision applications.
