Toblerone Sues Vegan Chocolate Startup Over "O'bar" Design

Times of India · business

Mondelēz International, the parent company of Toblerone, has sued a small British vegan chocolate brand, Catherine's Originals, over its "O'bar" product. Toblerone claims the "O'bar's" rounded ridges too closely resemble its iconic triangular peaks, alleging trademark infringement and passing off. The lawsuit was filed in London's High Court, with Mondelēz asserting its distinctive mountain-peak design has been protected since 1929. Catherine Dodd, founder of Catherine's Originals, denies the allegations, stating the "O'bar" is inspired by the letter 'O' and plans to fight the lawsuit.
