NGT Directs Odisha Pollution Board on Unauthorised Composting Centre

The National Green Tribunal has ordered the Odisha State Pollution Control Board (OSPCB) to submit an action-taken affidavit regarding an unauthorised micro-composting centre in a Bhubaneswar residential area. The tribunal warned that the OSPCB member secretary may have to appear personally if directions are not followed. This action stems from a petition alleging the facility operates without authorization, close to homes, causing nuisance and potential health hazards. The OSPCB had previously acknowledged that no authorization was issued for the centre and regular monitoring was not conducted.

National Green Tribunal (NGT) ने Odisha State Pollution Control Board (OSPCB) को Bhubaneswar के एक रिहायशी इलाके में अनधिकृत माइक्रो-कंपोस्टिंग सेंटर के संबंध में की गई कार्रवाई का हलफनामा (action-taken affidavit) जमा करने का आदेश दिया है। ट्रिब्यूनल ने चेतावनी दी है कि अगर निर्देशों का पालन नहीं किया गया तो OSPCB के सदस्य सचिव को व्यक्तिगत रूप से पेश होना पड़ सकता है। यह कार्रवाई एक याचिका पर की गई है जिसमें आरोप लगाया गया है कि यह सुविधा बिना अनुमति के घरों के पास चल रही है, जिससे परेशानी और संभावित स्वास्थ्य खतरे पैदा हो रहे हैं।
