Bill Gates-Backed Water-Recycling Toilet Opens In Hyderabad Park

Times of India · environment

Hyderabad's Lumbini Park now features a Net-Zero public toilet, a sanitation technology backed by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Inaugurated in September, this facility treats and reuses water on-site, marking the first public deployment of ReFlow's closed-loop system. The solar-powered unit operates without a sewer connection, recycling water multiple times for flushing. Developed by ReFlow in collaboration with T-Works and the Gates Foundation, this innovation aims to reduce water consumption in public facilities. Hyderabad is also slated to become a manufacturing hub for this green technology.
