Italian Inheritance Dispute: English Court Registers Only Partial Judgment

Times of India · world

An Italian father living in England excluded two men from his will in 2006, denying they were his sons. Twenty years later, an English court has allowed only a fraction of an Italian inheritance judgment to be registered. Italian courts had recognised the two men as sons and awarded them over €381,000. However, the English High Court ruled that only €46,110, plus interest, could be registered for enforcement in England. The decision limited the enforcement of foreign judgments concerning assets located in England, highlighting jurisdictional complexities.
