Asian Games 2026: PT Usha Names Kumkum Mohod, Sujeet Kalkal as MVPs

Indian Olympic Association president PT Usha has named teenage archer Kumkum Mohod and wrestler Sujeet Kalkal as the inaugural recipients of the Jaspal Rana Award and Raja Randhir Singh Award respectively. The awards honour the best female and male sportspersons of the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. Seventeen-year-old Mohod won three medals, including two golds, and ended South Korea's long reign in women's recurve archery. Twenty-three-year-old Kalkal secured gold in men's 65kg freestyle wrestling with a dramatic comeback in the final.

भारतीय ओलंपिक संघ की अध्यक्ष पीटी उषा ने किशोरी तीरंदाज कुमकुम मोद और पहलवान सुजीत कलकल को क्रमशः जसपाल राणा पुरस्कार और राजा रणधीर सिंह पुरस्कार के पहले प्राप्तकर्ताओं के रूप में नामित किया है। ये पुरस्कार ऐची-नागोया एशियन गेम्स के सर्वश्रेष्ठ महिला और पुरुष खिलाड़ियों को सम्मानित करते हैं। सत्रह वर्षीय मोद ने दो स्वर्ण सहित तीन पदक जीते और महिलाओं की रिकर्व तीरंदाजी में दक्षिण कोरिया के लंबे शासन को समाप्त किया। तेईस वर्षीय कलकल ने फाइनल में नाटकीय वापसी के साथ पुरुषों की 65 किग्रा फ्रीस्टाइल कुश्ती में स्वर्ण पदक जीता।
