India to Develop Tunnel Boring Machines If China Restricts Exports

India will develop its own tunnel boring machines if China imposes restrictions on their exports, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal announced. This move aims to reduce dependence on China for critical industrial equipment, similar to efforts being made for rare earths. Beijing has recently tightened export controls on some rare earth products and magnets. India is already investing in domestic manufacturing capacity for rare earth permanent magnets and encouraging startups to produce motors without rare earths.

वाणिज्य और उद्योग मंत्री पीयूष गोयल ने घोषणा की है कि अगर चीन मशीनों के निर्यात पर प्रतिबंध लगाता है तो भारत अपनी खुद की टनल बोरिंग मशीनें विकसित करेगा। इस कदम का मकसद महत्वपूर्ण औद्योगिक उपकरणों के लिए चीन पर निर्भरता कम करना है, जैसा कि दुर्लभ पृथ्वी तत्वों के लिए भी प्रयास किए जा रहे हैं। बीजिंग ने हाल ही में कुछ दुर्लभ पृथ्वी उत्पादों और मैग्नेट पर निर्यात नियंत्रण कड़े कर दिए हैं। भारत पहले से ही दुर्लभ पृथ्वी स्थायी मैग्नेट के लिए घरेलू विनिर्माण क्षमता में निवेश कर रहा है और स्टार्टअप्स को दुर्लभ पृथ्वी के बिना मोटर बनाने के लिए प्रोत्साहित कर रहा है।
