The Kerala Transport Department has permitted seven categories of vehicle modifications, including changes to engine, chassis, and body structure, provided prior approval is obtained from the registering authority. Modifications must adhere to existing rules, with prohibited colours and engine swaps from different models being disallowed. Approved changes, such as fuel conversion or adaptation for specific needs, must be recorded on the vehicle's registration certificate. Only authorised workshops can perform these modifications, ensuring compliance with manufacturer standards.

केरल परिवहन विभाग ने सात श्रेणियों के वाहन संशोधनों की अनुमति दी है, जिसमें इंजन, चेसिस और बॉडी स्ट्रक्चर में बदलाव शामिल हैं, बशर्ते कि रजिस्टरिंग अथॉरिटी से पहले मंज़ूरी मिल जाए। संशोधन मौजूदा नियमों के अनुसार होने चाहिए, जिसमें निषिद्ध रंग और विभिन्न मॉडलों से इंजन स्वैप की अनुमति नहीं होगी। स्वीकृत बदलाव, जैसे कि ईंधन रूपांतरण या विशिष्ट ज़रूरतों के लिए अनुकूलन, वाहन के रजिस्ट्रेशन सर्टिफिकेट पर दर्ज किए जाने चाहिए। केवल अधिकृत वर्कशॉप ही इन संशोधनों को कर सकते हैं, जिससे निर्माता के मानकों का अनुपालन सुनिश्चित हो सके।
