In Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, a 24-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman were found dead by suicide, hanging from a tree. Police identified the deceased as Abhay Kumar and Preeti, who were reportedly in a romantic relationship despite being related as brother and sister. Preeti's family had married her off 10 months prior, but she remained in contact with Abhay. Their families did not approve of the relationship, which authorities believe led to the tragic incident.
