BRS Avoided Tummidihatti Barrage Due To CWC Water Availability Concerns
The Hindu · india
BRS deputy floor leader T. Harish Rao stated that the previous government abandoned the Tummidihatti barrage project due to Central Water Commission (CWC) concerns over the required 160 tmcft water availability. The CWC suggested exploring alternatives, leading to the pursuit of the Kaleshwaram project, which obtained clearances for 240 tmcft. Rao urged the Congress government to release a white paper on the operation of irrigation schemes like Devadula and Kalvakurthy, alleging their mismanagement has worsened the drought situation in Telangana.
