ECI Removes Pilibhit Election Officials Over Electoral Roll Anomalies

The Election Commission of India has ordered the removal of the Electoral Registration Officer and Voter Registration Centre operator in Pilibhit Sadar constituency following a preliminary inquiry. This action was taken after the Opposition, including the Samajwadi Party and Uttar Pradesh Congress, alleged large-scale anomalies and alterations in electoral rolls affecting 13,150 entries. The ECI confirmed irregularities where voter details were displayed under incorrect EPIC numbers. Legal action will be initiated against the erring officials under the Representation of the People Act and the Indian Penal Code.

चुनाव आयोग (ECI) ने पीलीभीत सदर सीट के इलेक्टोरल रजिस्ट्रेशन ऑफिसर और वोटर रजिस्ट्रेशन सेंटर ऑपरेटर को शुरुआती जांच के बाद हटा दिया है। यह कदम समाजवादी पार्टी और उत्तर प्रदेश कांग्रेस समेत विपक्षी दलों द्वारा मतदाता सूची में बड़े पैमाने पर गड़बड़ी और 13,150 एंट्रीज को बदलने के आरोपों के बाद उठाया गया है। ECI ने पुष्टि की है कि गलत EPIC नंबरों के तहत मतदाताओं का विवरण दिखाया गया था। दोषी अधिकारियों के खिलाफ Representation of the People Act और Indian Penal Code के तहत कानूनी कार्रवाई की जाएगी।
