JNU Professor Dismissed After 11 Students Allege Sexual Harassment

Jawaharlal Nehru University has dismissed professor Angomcha Bimol Akoijam with immediate effect following an inquiry into sexual harassment allegations. Eleven students accused the professor of making sexually suggestive remarks during vivas and classes, and of inappropriate advances at his on-campus residence. The university's Internal Complaints Committee recommended a major penalty against him. The professor, who is also a Congress MP from Manipur, did not respond to queries.

जवाहरलाल नेहरू विश्वविद्यालय ने यौन उत्पीड़न के आरोपों की जांच के बाद प्रोफेसर अंगोमचा बिमोल अकोइजम को तत्काल प्रभाव से बर्खास्त कर दिया है। ग्यारह छात्रों ने प्रोफेसर पर वाइवा और कक्षाओं के दौरान यौन रूप से आपत्तिजनक टिप्पणियां करने और अपने ऑन-कैंपस आवास पर अनुचित तरीके से पेश आने का आरोप लगाया है। विश्वविद्यालय की आंतरिक शिकायत समिति ने उनके खिलाफ कड़ी कार्रवाई की सिफारिश की थी। प्रोफेसर, जो मणिपुर से कांग्रेस के सांसद भी हैं, ने सवालों का जवाब नहीं दिया।
