Char Dham Chopper Flights May Halt Over New DGCA Pilot Rule

Times of India · india

DGCA has mandated twin-pilot operations for choppers on Char Dham routes starting Monday, November 2, 2026, following a fatal crash near Badrinath. Chopper operators, however, have called the new rule unviable due to increased costs and threatened to suspend flights. They argue that absorbing the additional expenses for crew, accommodation, and logistics is commercially impossible. Operators are seeking a review and a workable solution from the DGCA and Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Authority.
