The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has issued nearly 28,000 challans and collected over ₹99 lakh in fines since May, following the implementation of the Jan Vishwas Act. Public urination and illegal garbage dumping accounted for approximately one in four violations. The Act replaced criminal actions with monetary penalties, increasing fines for offences like public urination to ₹500. While over 16,000 challans have been paid, more than 11,000 involving ₹1.32 crore remain outstanding. This enforcement drive aims to curb public nuisance and maintain civic order in the city.
