The European Union has imposed sanctions on nearly 1,600 Russian individuals and companies involved in the arms industry, focusing on those suspected of producing drone and missile parts. This marks the largest single sanction listing since Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Additionally, 77 individuals were sanctioned for organizing sham elections in occupied Ukrainian territories. EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas stated over half the sanctions target the production chain for ballistic missiles used against civilians, stressing the need to increase pressure on Moscow.
