Kapil Dev Cautions Young Vaibhav Sooryavanshi With Vinod Kambli Example

Times of India · sports

Former India captain Kapil Dev believes it is too early to judge 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's potential, despite his significant impact at age-group, India A, and IPL levels. Dev cited Vinod Kambli as an example of immense talent that faded out, emphasizing that a cricketer's long-term career depends on more than just early performances. He stressed that the next few years, and how Sooryavanshi handles lifestyle changes, will be more revealing. Dev looks for players who can sustain top-level performance for a decade or more, like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.
