Samajwadi Party leader Rajkumar Bhati has addressed rumors of his religious conversion to Buddhism. A viral video showed him participating in a 'Dhamma Deeksha ceremony' where Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar's 22 vows were recited. Bhati clarified that he was born Hindu and remains Hindu, respecting Buddhism but having no intention to convert. He explained his participation was as a guest honoring Ambedkar's teachings. The vows recited included not considering certain Hindu deities as gods, which sparked the controversy.

समाजवादी पार्टी के नेता राजकुमार भाटी ने बौद्ध धर्म में अपने कथित धार्मिक परिवर्तन की अफवाहों पर प्रतिक्रिया दी है। एक वायरल वीडियो में उन्हें 'धम्म दीक्षा समारोह' में भाग लेते हुए दिखाया गया था, जहाँ डॉ. भीमराव अंबेडकर के 22 प्रतिज्ञाओं का पाठ किया गया था। भाटी ने स्पष्ट किया कि उनका जन्म हिंदू परिवार में हुआ था और वह हिंदू ही रहेंगे, उन्होंने बौद्ध धर्म का सम्मान करने की बात कही लेकिन धर्म परिवर्तन की कोई मंशा नहीं बताई। उन्होंने समझाया कि उन्होंने अंबेडकर की शिक्षाओं का सम्मान करते हुए एक अतिथि के तौर पर भाग लिया था। पढ़ी गई प्रतिज्ञाओं में कुछ हिंदू देवी-देवताओं को ईश्वर न मानने की बात शामिल थी, जिससे यह विवाद खड़ा हुआ।
