Azam Khan Moves SC Against ED Arrest After Getting Bail in 95 Cases

Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan has approached the Supreme Court challenging his arrest by the ED. Khan was arrested by the ED on October 31, shortly after being granted bail by the Allahabad High Court in the last of 95 cases filed against him since 2017. His lawyer argued the arrest was illegal, citing the FIR registration delay and the timing, especially with UP assembly elections approaching. Khan alleges the criminal justice system is being used for political ends to keep him incarcerated indefinitely.

समाजवादी पार्टी के नेता आजम खान ने ईडी द्वारा अपनी गिरफ्तारी को सुप्रीम कोर्ट में चुनौती दी है। खान को 31 अक्टूबर को ईडी ने गिरफ्तार किया था, इससे ठीक पहले उन्हें उनके खिलाफ 2017 से दर्ज 95 मामलों में से आखिरी मामले में इलाहाबाद हाई कोर्ट से जमानत मिली थी। उनके वकील ने FIR दर्ज करने में देरी और खासकर उत्तर प्रदेश विधानसभा चुनावों के नजदीक होने के समय का हवाला देते हुए गिरफ्तारी को अवैध बताया। खान का आरोप है कि आपराधिक न्याय प्रणाली का इस्तेमाल उन्हें अनिश्चित काल तक जेल में रखने के लिए राजनीतिक उद्देश्यों के लिए किया जा रहा है।
