92 Detained for Unauthorised Protest in Pune, Released Hours Later

Pune police detained 92 individuals on Saturday for attempting to hold an unauthorised rally demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the revocation of the SIR of electoral rolls. The protesters were taken to Cantonment police station and released later in the evening. Police had previously denied permission for the protest near Shaniwarwada. Demonstrators, including members of various political and social groups, asserted their constitutional right to peaceful dissent. The detainees continued their protest inside the police station while supporters gathered outside demanding their release.
