President Donald Trump and top artificial intelligence executives have signed an accord to "self-police" AI development, aiming to mitigate risks from the technology's rapid growth. Companies like OpenAI, Anthropic, Meta, and Google committed to implementing internal controls and working with external auditors. The agreement also includes setting up board committees to evaluate audit reports and ensuring AI tools do not access technical systems unintentionally. Trump described the accord as a form of protection and suggested it could eventually be codified into law.
