Tamil Nadu HoDs Now Responsible For Student Placements And Skill Development

Tamil Nadu's higher education department has directed Heads of Departments (HoDs) to take primary responsibility for student skill development and job placements, replacing placement coordinators. HoDs will now coordinate training, identify industry needs, and establish formal industry tie-ups through MoUs for regular interaction and curriculum feedback. This initiative aims to equip students with industry-relevant skills beyond theoretical learning, covering all departments. Institutions must also sponsor students for internships after foundational training. Teacher associations have opposed the directive, citing staff vacancies and prioritizing permanent faculty appointments.

तमिलनाडु के उच्च शिक्षा विभाग ने विभागाध्यक्षों (HoDs) को प्लेसमेंट कोऑर्डिनेटरों की जगह छात्र कौशल विकास और नौकरी प्लेसमेंट की प्राथमिक जिम्मेदारी लेने का निर्देश दिया है। एचओडी अब प्रशिक्षण का समन्वय करेंगे, उद्योग की जरूरतों की पहचान करेंगे, और नियमित बातचीत और पाठ्यक्रम प्रतिक्रिया के लिए समझौता ज्ञापनों (MoUs) के माध्यम से औपचारिक उद्योग गठजोड़ स्थापित करेंगे। इस पहल का उद्देश्य सैद्धांतिक सीखने से परे, सभी विभागों को कवर करते हुए, छात्रों को उद्योग-प्रासंगिक कौशल से लैस करना है। संस्थानों को मूलभूत प्रशिक्षण के बाद छात्रों को इंटर्नशिप के लिए प्रायोजित भी करना होगा। शिक्षक संघों ने कर्मचारियों की कमी और स्थायी फैकल्टी नियुक्तियों को प्राथमिकता देने का हवाला देते हुए निर्देश का विरोध किया है।
