Golconda Fort, a significant historical monument in Hyderabad, was initially fortified by the Kakatiya rulers in the 13th century. It later came under the control of the Bahmani Sultanate and was extensively developed by the Qutb Shahi rulers, who made it their capital. The fort's strategic location and strong defenses made it a formidable challenge. Mughal emperor Aurangzeb eventually captured the fort, after a prolonged siege, making its conquest a matter of prestige.
