Mysuru Dasara's Vajra Mushti Kalaga Cancelled Due To Police Restrictions

The traditional Vajra Mushti Kalaga, an ancient martial combat sport involving wrestlers striking each other on the head with knuckledusters, was cancelled this year at the Mysuru Dasara. Wrestlers from the Jetti community blamed police restrictions for preventing some participants from entering the Mysuru Palace premises on time. While wrestlers from Bengaluru and Chamarajanagar entered, those from Mysuru and Ramanagara could not reach the arena before the auspicious time. The event, patronised by the Wadiyars of Mysuru for centuries, is usually held ahead of the Vijaya Yatra and Banni Pooja.
