Sugarcane Farmers Protest Delay in FRP Increase; Demand Panel Representation

Sugarcane farmers in Mysuru protested the delay in increasing the Fair and Remunerative Price (FRP) for sugarcane. Led by Kurubur Shanthakumar, they also objected to the absence of a farmers' representative in the Centre's Ramesh Chand Committee. The association demanded a revision of FRP based on state reports and separate pricing for commercial and consumer sugar. They urged the Union Government to raise FRP to ₹4,500 per tonne and the Karnataka government to increase the State Advised Price by ₹800 per tonne.
