Tholahunase railway station near Davangere is being upgraded from a wayside station to a junction, transforming it into a crucial node in the region's rail network. The expansion includes increasing platforms from two to five and laying new tracks for the proposed Davangere-Chitradurga-Tumakuru direct line. This new 192-km line aims to shorten the Davangere-Bengaluru route by approximately 53 km, offering a faster and potentially cheaper alternative to the current longer route.

दहवनगेरे के पास तोलाहुनसे रेलवे स्टेशन को एक छोटे स्टेशन से जंक्शन में बदला जा रहा है, जिससे यह क्षेत्र के रेल नेटवर्क का एक महत्वपूर्ण केंद्र बन जाएगा। इस विस्तार में प्लेटफार्मों को दो से बढ़ाकर पांच करना और प्रस्तावित दहवनगेरे-चित्रदुर्ग-तुमकुर सीधी लाइन के लिए नई पटरियां बिछाना शामिल है। इस नई 192 किमी लंबी लाइन का उद्देश्य दहवनगेरे-बेंगलुरु मार्ग को लगभग 53 किमी तक छोटा करना है, जिससे मौजूदा लंबे मार्ग की तुलना में एक तेज और संभावित रूप से सस्ता विकल्प मिलेगा।
