He underwent a procedure to implant a shunt in his brain after cancelling concerts and undergoing physical therapy. Joel stated that while his balance and hearing are still impacted, he wants fans to know he is fine and no longer needs to worry. He was diagnosed with NPH in 2025, which worsened with recent performances, leading to his temporary hiatus from touring.
