Court Seeks Delhi Police Response on Sacked JNU Prof's Bail Plea

A Delhi court has issued a notice to the Delhi Police regarding a pre-arrest bail plea filed by Angomcha Bimol Akoijam, a professor dismissed from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). The court has also ordered that no coercive action be taken against Akoijam, who is also a Congress MP, until the next hearing on November 5. JNU had dismissed Akoijam in October following an internal inquiry into sexual harassment allegations. The Delhi Police registered an FIR against him on October 12, days after his dismissal.
