Delhi Customs has busted a gold smuggling syndicate at Indira Gandhi International Airport, seizing 6.5kg of gold valued at approximately ₹9.9 crore. The gold was recovered from eight passengers who arrived from Dubai last month. Following the seizure, several customs officers were reassigned, and one was suspended, as a vigilance inquiry was ordered to investigate potential collusion and supervisory lapses. The syndicate reportedly operated every three to four months, with this latest bust disrupting their network. Customs has reported a significant increase in gold seizures this financial year.
