Chandigarh PGI Parking Project Revival After Supreme Court Ruling

The ₹61-crore multi-level parking project at Chandigarh's PGIMER, stalled for 15 months, is set to resume following a Supreme Court clarification on retrospective environmental clearance. Construction, 70% complete, was halted last year due to the lack of mandatory clearance. PGIMER is now hiring an environment consultant to develop a management plan and advise on applying for clearance as per the SC judgment. The project aims to alleviate severe parking congestion at the hospital, which sees 25,000-30,000 vehicles daily against a capacity of 5,500.

चंडीगढ़ के पीजीआईएमईआर में ₹61 करोड़ की मल्टी-लेवल पार्किंग प्रोजेक्ट, जो 15 महीनों से रुकी हुई थी, सुप्रीम कोर्ट द्वारा पर्यावरण मंजूरी पर स्पष्टीकरण के बाद फिर से शुरू होने वाली है। पिछले साल अनिवार्य मंजूरी के अभाव में निर्माण, जो 70% पूरा हो चुका था, रोक दिया गया था। पीजीआईएमईआर अब एक पर्यावरण सलाहकार की नियुक्ति कर रहा है ताकि एक प्रबंधन योजना विकसित की जा सके और SC के फैसले के अनुसार मंजूरी के लिए आवेदन करने पर सलाह दी जा सके। इस प्रोजेक्ट का उद्देश्य अस्पताल में गंभीर पार्किंग जाम को कम करना है, जहाँ प्रतिदिन 25,000-30,000 वाहन आते हैं जबकि क्षमता केवल 5,500 वाहनों की है।
