Pilot's Skull Fracture Near Brain Vein Made Axe Attack Life-Threatening

Indian pilot Captain Smit Machchhar suffered a severe occipital compound depressed skull fracture during an axe attack on a flydubai flight. Neurosurgeon Dr Sanat Dixit explained the injury's danger lies near the superior sagittal sinus, a major vein draining the brain. Damage to this area can cause significant bleeding and circulation issues. Lifting depressed bone fragments near the sinus is risky, potentially leading to massive blood loss if the damaged vessel is exposed. The attack occurred on September 30 aboard flight FZ 1073.

भारतीय पायलट कैप्टन स्मित मछाड़ को flydubai की फ्लाइट में कुल्हाड़ी से हमले के दौरान सिर के पिछले हिस्से में गंभीर चोट आई। न्यूरोसर्जन डॉ. सनत दीक्षित ने बताया कि चोट की गंभीरता सुपीरियर सेजिटल साइनस के पास होने में है, जो दिमाग से खून निकालने वाली एक बड़ी नस है। इस हिस्से को नुकसान होने से भारी रक्तस्राव और सर्कुलेशन में दिक्कत हो सकती है। साइनस के पास दबी हुई हड्डी के टुकड़ों को उठाना खतरनाक है, क्योंकि अगर क्षतिग्रस्त नस खुल गई तो बहुत ज्यादा खून बह सकता है। यह हमला 30 सितंबर को फ्लाइट FZ 1073 में हुआ था।
