Sunflower-Inspired Cooling System Boosts Cooling Power

Times of India - India · india

Chinese researchers have developed a novel radiative cooling system inspired by sunflowers, which dynamically adjusts its orientation to track the sun. This system, called DSVFS, demonstrated a 135% increase in cooling flux at solar noon compared to a fixed version. Experiments showed the system achieved 71 W/m² of cooling flux, making surfaces 1.1°C cooler than fixed emitters. The technology aims to enhance cooling efficiency by reducing direct sunlight exposure while maintaining heat radiation to the sky.
