European Supermarkets Hit By Second Coordinated Cyberattack
DW World · world
Supermarkets across Europe, including chains in Sweden, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Estonia, have reported freezer malfunctions due to apparent cyberattacks. This incident follows a similar attack in France three weeks prior, where refrigeration systems were hijacked to defrost food. Several Swedish chains like ICA and Coop, along with Ahold Delhaize in Belgium and Luxembourg, experienced issues. Belgian authorities have launched a criminal investigation into the coordinated disruption, which again raised concerns about food security and led to spoiled products being discarded.
