The US Secretary of Energy has issued an emergency directive granting PJM Interconnection temporary powers to ensure grid stability from October 13 to October 16. This allows the operator to compel specific power generation facilities to produce electricity and access supplementary reserves. The directive aims to avert power disruptions and is not a notification of planned outages. It affects thirteen states and the District of Columbia due to escalating electricity consumption driven by unseasonably warm autumn weather and planned infrastructure maintenance.

ऊर्जा सचिव, अमेरिका ने एक आपातकालीन निर्देश जारी किया है। इससे PJM Interconnection को 13 अक्टूबर से 16 अक्टूबर तक ग्रिड की स्थिरता बनाए रखने के लिए अस्थायी अधिकार मिल गए हैं। अब यह ऑपरेटर कुछ खास बिजली उत्पादन इकाइयों को बिजली बनाने का आदेश दे सकता है और अतिरिक्त रिज़र्व का इस्तेमाल कर सकता है। इस निर्देश का मकसद बिजली कटौती को रोकना है, न कि किसी तयशुदा आउटेज की सूचना देना। यह तेरह राज्यों और District of Columbia को प्रभावित करेगा। ऐसा इसलिए है क्योंकि मौसम के हिसाब से गर्म शरद ऋतु और ढांचागत रखरखाव के कारण बिजली की खपत बढ़ गई है।
