Giant Saltwater Crocodile Carcass Found Floating In Brahmani River

Times of India · environment

The carcass of a 14-foot-long, 20-year-old male saltwater crocodile was discovered floating in the Brahmani river within Bhitarkanika National Park. Forest officials retrieved the body for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. This incident follows a previous discovery of a female crocodile on June 8. Illegal fishing in the park's waters is often blamed for such deaths, as crocodiles can become entangled in nets. This marks the 18th unnatural crocodile death in six years and the 40th around the park in 14 years.
