Jack Dorsey's Bitchat App Removed From Apple India Store

Apple has removed Bitchat, an offline messaging app backed by Twitter cofounder Jack Dorsey, from its India App Store following a demand from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). Dorsey confirmed the removal on X, stating the Indian government had officially taken the app down. Apple cited content deemed "illegal in India" under Section 69A of the IT Act, though specific details were not provided. Bitchat, a decentralized app using Bluetooth mesh networks, will continue to be available in other countries.
