Indian Rupee Strengthens For Fourth Straight Session Amidst Dollar Weakness and Oil Price Drop
Economic Times Markets · stocks
The Indian rupee appreciated for the fourth consecutive day, closing 0.1% higher at 95.0550 per dollar. This gain was driven by a weaker US dollar, declining oil prices, and a rally in Indian stocks. The currency has now risen 2% this week, recovering from near record lows. Lower Treasury yields also contributed to the dollar's decline, while Brent crude oil prices eased due to potential US actions regarding Russian tankers. India's merchandise trade deficit for September was reported at $30.21 billion.
